History Of Holiday On Second Saturday

Image
The question I have been dwelling on why "second Saturday holiday?" was finally unfolded by the archives of newspapers. Here we go The origin of the Second Saturday holiday tradition dates back to the days of the East India Company. Planet Saturn, from which the day’s name is derived, is the second-largest, the second of Saturdays in a month was designated as a  holiday. The Jews observe Saturdays as the day of Sabbath, this Israel's tradition. Derived from the Biblical Sabbath in Christianity, Saturday is a weekly day of rest or religious observance. Day for rest and worship Seventh-day Sabbath observance is practiced by seventh-day Sabbatarians , i.e. resting from labor from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset . Sabbath is an important part of the belief and practice of seventh-day Christia...

What is a Dream?  Dream analysis  Karl Jung described that dreams are a way of communicating and acquainting yourself with the unconscious.  Jung argues that dreams are not attempts to conceal your true feelings from the waking mind,  they were windows to our unconsciousness.  Dreams allow you to understand with a little more clarity what is happening to you in the challenges of daily life.  Dreams can also be described as manifestations of our deepest desires and anxieties , often relating to repressed childhood memories or obsessions. Sleep, What is Sleep!! Ideal Sleep??

Image
My dearest friend who sleeps late at nights, usually after  midnight, and a few other friends, triggered me penning this  article. In brief, sleep is composed of two stages:  REM ( Rapid Eye Movement ) and non-REM. The former helps in  mental consolidation while the latter helps in physical  repair and rebuilding.  During the night, you alternate  between REM and non-REM stages 4-5 times . The earlier part of sleep is mostly non-REM. During that  period, your pituitary gland releases growth hormones that  repair your body. The latter part of sleep is more and more  REM type. Ideal Sleep For us to be mentally alert during the day, the latter part  of sleep is more important. No wonder when you wake up with  an alarm after 5-6 hours of sleep, you are mentally  irritable throughout the day (lack of REM sleep). And if  you have slept for less than 5 hours, your body is in a  complete ...

Learn To Live And Live To Learn

Image
Learning is a continuous process. Learning continues all the  way from cradle to the grave. The cycle of learning includes  learn, unlearn, and relearn . The beauty lies in how to unlearn? The process of unlearning helps to learn. Unlearning can be  described as emptying the cup so that new stuff(learning)  can be filled. This metaphor can also be described as  stripping the existing paint of a wall so that new paint  sticks. As we know stripping is 80% of the job and  repainting is 20%. Therefore, learn to unlearn then relearn. never stop learning Learn to unlearn and unlearn to learn.  Education which can be described as the progressive  discovery of our own ignorance  boosts the learning cycle  through experiential learning. Experiential Learning is  learning from  experience. Life is the best teacher, which  teaches the same lesson over until we learn.  Aristotle once sai...

Appraisal

A little boy went to a telephone booth which was at the cash counter of a store and dialed a number. The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:  Boy:  "Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?   Woman: (at the other end of the phone line) "I already have someone to cut my lawn."    Boy: "Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price than the person who cuts your lawn now."   Woman: I'm very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.   Boy : (with more perseverance) "Lady, I'll even sweep the floor and the stairs of your house for free.  Woman: No, thank you.  Self Appraisal With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.  Store Owner: "Son. I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job."  Boy: "No thanks" St...
