Appraisal

A little boy went to a telephone booth which was at the cash counter of a store and dialed a number. The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation: 


Boy: "Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?
 
Woman: (at the other end of the phone line) "I already have someone to cut my lawn."
  
Boy: "Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price than the person who cuts your lawn now."  

Woman: I'm very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.  

Boy : (with more perseverance) "Lady, I'll even sweep the floor and the stairs of your house for free. 

Woman: No, thank you. 

Self Appraisal




With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy. 

Store Owner: "Son. I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job." 

Boy: "No thanks"

Store Owner: But you were really pleading for one. 

Boy: No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the job I already have. I am the one who is working for that  lady I was talking to!"


This is called "Self Appraisal".  

The difference between dream and aim, 
Dream requires Soundless sleep to see
Whereas Aim Requires Sleepless Efforts to Achieve...

Learning is a continuous process. Learning continues all the  way from cradle to the grave. The cycle of learning includes  learn, unlearn, and relearn . The beauty lies in how to unlearn? The process of unlearning helps to learn. Unlearning can be  described as emptying the cup so that new stuff(learning)  can be filled. This metaphor can also be described as  stripping the existing paint of a wall so that new paint  sticks. As we know stripping is 80% of the job and  repainting is 20%. Sleep, What is Sleep!! Ideal Sleep??

My dearest friend who sleeps late at nights, usually after  midnight, and a few other friends, triggered me penning this  article. In brief, sleep is composed of two stages:  REM ( Rapid Eye Movement ) and non-REM. The former helps in  mental consolidation while the latter helps in physical  repair and rebuilding.  During the night, you alternate  between REM and non-REM stages 4-5 times . The earlier part of sleep is mostly non-REM. During that  period, your pituitary gland releases growth hormones that  repair your body. The latter part of sleep is more and more  REM type. Ideal Sleep For us to be mentally alert during the day, the latter part  of sleep is more important. No wonder when you wake up with  an alarm after 5-6 hours of sleep, you are mentally  irritable throughout the day (lack of REM sleep).
